Below I will list seven fun family-friendly activities in Belize, however, many of these tours and activities are also fun if you’re traveling alone or just with friends.

Top things to do in Belize with your family

1. Snorkeling

Belize is surrounded by the second largest barrier reef in the world. The best snorkeling is done off Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker. There you can head to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the Shark Ray Alley! Taking a private tour with kids makes such a difference as the tour guide goes at your pace. We snorkeled with nurse sharks, turtles, and stingrays!

2. Diving

Diving in Belize is a biggy. We chose to snorkel since our kids are very young but a lot of scuba diving families with kids 10 years and older typically stay at dive resorts and explore all the Belize Barrier Reef has to offer.

3. Kayaking

Kayaking is so great to do on the Caribbean Sea. The waters in Belize are calm and warm, and most beachfront hotels offer free kayak rentals upon request. If you’re looking for fun and unique adventure, try a small group tour of one of Belize’s atolls!

4. Biking

Biking is without a doubt the best way to get around the beach areas, especially at smaller cayes such as Caye Caulker which are easy to ride around. Most hotels have bikes at their disposal so no need to pay for them.

5. Rent a golf cart

Driving a golf cart is a must-do in Ambergris Caye. Why? Because the island is a bit larger and the northern part of it is all mangroves and simply gorgeous and the only way to get to see this natural wonder would be in a Golf Cart.

6. Hiking and caving

When visiting the San Ignacio area – this is fantastic for Maya ruins and caves that are known as some of the best going all the way up to the Yucatan! And the hiking is simply amazing. As for caving, make sure you check out Belize’s ATM Cave.

7. Wildlife viewing

Butterflies, monkeys, birds, and all types of wildlife can be easily seen in the jungles of Belize. There is never a shortage of friendly creatures that you can have up-close encounters with! And if you stay at a Belizean rainforest lodge, you can spot wildlife from your porch.

I skipped Belize during my travels in Central America, so I’ve been thinking about making it a vacation in the upcoming year. I would love the kayaking, and I should probably use my scuba diving certification again.

Kayaking is the best there! You can go on certain trips to deserted islands where you basically kayak and snorkel all day.
