Big Rock Falls in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, Cayo, Belize

Big Rock Falls is a 150-foot waterfall located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve of the Cayo District. I consider it one of the most underrated places for a picnic/ swim in Belize.

Big Rock Falls tour

Dirt Road to Mountain Pine Ridge

Big Rock Falls is a must-visit for anyone that visits Western Belize. Typically, a visit there can be added to a tour of Mountain Pine Ridge and/or Caracol! The trail there has a steep hike down at the end but once you’re there, you’ll be happy you visited. It’s a great spot for jumping off cliffs, swimming, and having a jungle-waterfall picnic.

The Mountain Pine Ridge/ Caracol tour typically leaves San Ignacio at 7 or 8 AM and it is a beautiful, scenic tour that includes tons of opportunities to hike, swim, and spot wildlife. Along with Big Rock Falls, you will likely make stops at the Rio Frio Cave and Rio On Pools.
