The Top Luxury Hotels in Belize

Here I am including a list of what I consider the best luxury hotels and resorts in Belize right now. Each place has something unique to offer, whether they are a hip boutique hotel with all the modern comforts and world-class amenities or a rustic Eco-haven in the middle of nowhere.

If you think that I’m only mentioning the resorts below because they offer upscale full service or have exclusive clientele, you’re wrong. These properties have been hand selected because they offer spectacular views, exquisite food, the best tour guides and staff, and have a rich ambiance rated “5 Star” in my books.

I also recommend that if you want to have the optimal Belize trip, spending a few days in the jungle before heading to the beach is the best experience. Below I will feature resorts in (1) Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, (2) Western Belize, (3) Southern Coast of Belize, (4) Southern Belize, and (4) Northern Belize. Just so you know, the most popular destinations are in San Pedro in Ambergris Caye and Cayo in Western Belize.

1. Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye has been luring travelers from around the world for quite some time and thus it is the most popular place in Belize. It’s little sister, Caye Caulker, is also popular, however, it is mostly known for its budget options.

Caye Reef Condos

1.7 Caye Reef Condos

Caye Caulker is the second most popular destination in Belize and it is known for the colorful Caribbean laid-back vibe. However, when it comes to luxury travel, it does not generally cater to this demographic. But for the sake of including such an amazing island destination in this list, I doubled down and came up with the best luxury accommodation recommendation on Caye Caulker. The result is Caye Reef Condos and I promise that if you stay there you won’t be disappointed.

It is located in a private reserve 1/2 hour away from downtown San Ignacio, Cayo.

nice article. I see huge difference in prices between booking full packages with hotels (including meals, transport and some activities) and booking the room only (like on Expedia). What do you suggest? Better to book the full thing or just the room and book activities on the spot? Thanks!

    • Lorenzo Gonzalez August 21, 2014 at 11:12 PM #

I’d say in the end it’s cheaper to buy a package. Tours and transportation add up.
